Angels Infielder Expected to Open Season on Injured List
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels will be without their infielder to start the season.

According to Jeff Fletcher of the OC Register, the Halos will be without their veteran infielder, Michael Stefanic, to start the season. Stefanic will start the season on the injured list.

Infielder Michael Stefanic (quad) said running on a treadmill on Wednesday went well, and he was set to run on the field on Thursday. Stefanic is expected to begin the season on the injured list.

Stefanic has been unavailable practically the entire string training. He suffered a quad injury in the first spring training game against the Los Angeles Dodgers three weeks ago and has been out since.

The 28-year-old must wait to start his third season in the big leagues. He began his big league journey in 2022 with the Halos. He went undrafted in the 2018 MLB draft, but the Angels signed him as a free agent in July 2018.

In July 2022, Stefanic was promoted to the majors for the first time and debuted against the Houston Astros on the road. He's gone back and forth from the minor leagues to the majors; however, 2024 is the year he could be a common fixture in the lineup.

That will have to wait for the moment, though. His status to return remains unknown. Hopefully, his injury doesn't linger much longer.
