Suffering their fourth consecutive loss, the Arizona Diamondbacks were swept by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday morning.
With Ryne Nelson on the mound, the Braves struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 2nd, led by Matt Olson’s solo home run to kick off the inning.
Although Nelson settled down to some extent, he exited after the 5th inning with the Diamondbacks trailing 3-2.
Then, the bullpen struggles continued, with Atlanta adding two huge insurance runs in the 8th off Miguel Castro. With one out, Austin Riley connected for a 446-foot home run into the centerfield bleachers.
Castro’s ERA this season now sits at 6.23.
The Diamondbacks‘ offense received minimal support from the bottom half of the order, with Eugenio Suarez particularly struggling at the plate, striking out in three of his four appearances.
Arizona managed just one hit in the final four innings.
Looking to rebound, the Diamondbacks will take on the Rockies in Colorado tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 5:40 pm.
