Hawks forward accuses Beyonce of 'promoting Satan'

AJ Griffin played for the Blue Devils in college. Now he's warning concert goers about the devil on social media.

In a since-deleted post, the Hawks' second-year forward wrote, "If you call yourself a follower of Jesus Christ, you shouldn't be going to any Beyoncé concerts or any concerts that Promote Satan. (Ephesians 5:11)."

Beyoncé is set to perform three shows in four nights in Atlanta this weekend as part of her Renaissance Tour, but Satan might be disappointed to learn that she's not performing on Sunday.

The Biblical passage Griffin cited reads, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Clearly he considers the work of the 32-time Grammy Award winner to be "unfruitful works of darkness," but it's not clear if that's specific to Ms. Knowles or whether Griffin thinks all pop concerts are the works of the devil.

Most of Griffin's posts on X, formerly Twitter, are Bible verses, occasionally used to promote the evangelical film "Sound Of Freedom."

Griffin has also seemingly quoted the Book of Revelation to warn about the rise of credit cards and cryptocurrency, citing a passage about how people "could not buy or sell unless they had the mark of the beast."

He also warned that the Rapture is imminent.

That's not to say that Griffin only tweets about the Bible. He often retweets posts from the Hawks and his teammates. And it's clear that Griffin believes in the righteousness of acai bowls and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."

Aside from the Bey Hive, this shouldn't affect Griffin's NBA career. Although he has reportedly been offered to Toronto in a trade package for Pascal Siakam, that won't be a big deal. Beyoncé's tour was already there in July.
