Former NFL Star Reveals 1 Major Concern About Caleb Williams
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It’s widely anticipated that the Chicago Bears will secure University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams as the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Williams stands out in a promising draft class featuring quarterbacks like Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy, alongside several skilled wide receivers and offensive linemen.

However, former NFL star wide receiver James Jones raised a pertinent concern about Williams during his appearance on FS1’s “Speak”: the prevalence of “off-schedule” plays in Williams’ college performance, deviating from his team’s planned strategies.

While Williams’ improvisational skills are commendable, overreliance on them can pose risks.

Jones emphasized that with talented wide receivers like DJ Moore and Keenan Allen on the Bears’ roster, Williams won’t need to shoulder the entire offensive burden.

Williams boasted impressive passing statistics during his tenure with the Trojans, coupled with 21 rushing touchdowns, fueling expectations of him becoming a transformative NFL talent.

Should Williams live up to the hype, the Bears could enjoy a level of comprehensive talent not seen since their 1985 Super Bowl victory. With a burgeoning defense complementing their offensive potential, a playoff berth could be within reach if Williams swiftly acclimates to NFL play.

Hopefully, the Bears finally have their long-term franchise quarterback that they have been searching for so long. If Caleb Williams is a bust, trading Justin Fields is a move that they’ll be ripped apart for if he finds success in Pittsburgh.
