Coming off an unexpectedly successful 2023 season, the Los Angeles Rams came into this offseason with some cap space at their disposal to further improve their young roster.

The Rams went right to work at the start of free agency addressing some needs, notably on the offensive line with the signings of Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson. The also added a massive tight end in Colby Parkinson, signaling head coach Sean McVay’s desire to get back to run-first, smashmouth football.

L.A. also made a notable addition on the defensive side of the ball, bringing back a familiar face in Darious Williams to lead their young secondary. The Rams still have a need for more defensive backs though, and they were able to add one in former Washington Commanders safety Kamren Curl, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network:

Curl is a former seventh round pick of the Commanders in 2020 out of Arkansas that is a budding young star in the NFL at 24 years of age.

He has played at both safety positions and the slot for Washington and is coming off the best season of his career with 115 total tackles, five passes defensed and a forced fumble in 16 games (all starts).

This is a solid bargain deal for the Rams, adding a versatile and young defensive back to Chris Shula’s defense. While they could look at add more in free agency or the draft, the Rams currently have Curl, Russ Yeast and Quentin Lake as safety options for the 2024 season.

Rams’ Jordan Fuller visiting with Panthers

Curl could potentially be replacing one of the Rams’ captains in Jordan Fuller, who had a similar rise as a sixth-round pick and has reached free agency.

He is set to make a visit with the Carolina Panthers and with the Rams adding Curl, it seems like bringing Fuller back may not be in the cards.
